Catch a band at The Bandstand

These Bandstands are very much a part of this little sea town’s culture. The first bandstand was erected in 1901, located opposite the hotel at the edge of the promenade, it served for military bands to perform. Throughout the years, bands used these to perform to people visiting the promenade. Now, these are used for carols during Christmas and other bands who use it to perform to residents. Catching a band here would definitely be a way of merging into the Bognor Regis culture, and you can do so while enjoying the spectacular views around, maybe while grabbing a snack or ice cream at the kiosks.

Bognor Regis Museum

This museum is dedicated to the area’s history, showcasing exactly how a small fishing village turned into a fashionable seaside resort. Amongst the many exhibits you will find vintage cameras, fossils, and even an Edwardian kitchen, displaying how things used to be back in the day. The former curator of the museum, a passionate radio collector, has also donated an extensive collection of old radios, fascinating and not easily found in many places. You will find posters to photos, old newspapers to working models made by the early day cobblers. While small, the museum packs a punch with all sorts of knick knacks. You’ll even see olden day uniforms.

Visit Bognor Regis Beach

The sand and shingle beaches here have won awards, and for those merely interested in the beaches, there are plenty of water sports to be found here. The pier is what divides Bognor’s East and West beaches and is located at the centre of the town. This Victorian pier was built in 1865 and was initially 1000ft long. It is now just 350ft and has been awarded the Grade II listing status by English Heritage to ensure its safety and well preservation. It now comes alive during the annual competition for human-powered ‘flying’ machines, held here each year.
