best hotels ostend hero

Ostend has always been known as ‘’The Queen’’ of cities by the coast in Belgium. Not only because Ostend was and still is the city where Belgian royalty has their holiday homes, but also because it is the biggest and liveliest city by the Belgian coast. There are lots of great things to do in Ostend, but when planning your trip to Ostend you will also need a great hotel. That is why I have put together a list of the best hotels in Ostend.

Best Hotels in Ostend Summary

B and B Chambres d'O

Not only has this charming Bed and Breakfast an amazing pun in its name, it is also the best reviewed place to stay in Ostend. Chambres d’O offers spacious and beautifully decorated rooms just outside the centre of the city. This B&B in Ostend has a terrace and a beautiful garden. There are only a few rooms available so you will always receive a very personal experience. All rooms come with a beautiful and modern en-suite bathroom including bathrobes and free toiletries. Ostend B&B Chambres d’O is also suited for families as there is a family room available with a double bed and a bunk bed. The Leopold park and the beach are only a few minutes away by foot.

Villa Les Paquerettes Ostend

When choosing a hotel or bed and breakfast in Ostend, also have a look at the beautiful Villa Les Paquerettes. Located only a 5-minute walk from the beaches, this beautiful villa boasts only a few rooms so you will always stay in a peaceful environment. Every single room will have a private en-suite bathroom and there is a shared library you are very welcome to use. In the communal living room you will find an honesty bar where you can buy a few drinks and in the breakfast room you can enjoy a nice continental breakfast in the morning.

Hotel Botteltje Ostend

If you are looking to stay more in the centre of the city I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Botteltje. This amazing hotel is the highest rated hotel in Ostend (the other two were Bed and Breakfasts) and one of the best restaurants and beer bars in the city. I am, in fact, a regular at Botteltje when visiting my parents in Ostend! Hotel Botteltje offers beautiful and modern rooms that were recently renovated and redecorated. You will be very close to both the beach and the main shopping street. Every single room will have a private bathroom which comes with toiletries, a flatscreen TV and a desk. In the mornings you are welcome to have your breakfast in the hotel as they serve up a buffet.

C-Hotels Andromeda

C-Hotels Andromeda is located on the promenade offering amazing sea views. This beautiful 4-star hotel boasts a large 110m2 swimming pool for when the weather is too bad to hop into the waves and half of the rooms offer beautiful views over the beach and sea. Guests can also enjoy the Jacuzzi and the sauna or, in case they want a little night cap, enjoy the sunset from the terrace with a little drink and something to eat. All rooms are beautifully decorated and those with a frontal sea view will have chairs from where they can drink their morning coffee overlooking the beach.

Upstairs Hotel Ostend

Another amazing hotel close to the beach and sea is Upstairs Hotel Ostend. This modern hotel is a beautiful playground for adults and kids alike. Rooms are decorated in a rather industrial style, but it fits the atmosphere of the hotel perfectly. The hotel has a great terrace where you can drink a cup of coffee or a local Ostend craft beer, and if you are into a bit of table tennis, there’s a large table tennis table you can make use off. All rooms in the Upstairs Hotel Ostend come with a modern private bathroom and the sea and beach are literally a 20-second walk up the street away. In case you are into luxury, be sure to rent out the penthouse for your own beautiful roof terrace and an amazing view over the sea!

C-Hotels Cocoon Ostend

We have already had a look at C-Hotels Andromeda, now we are looking at its sister hotel Cocoon. Cocoon is a beautiful hotel tucked away in the centre of the city, close to the beach and the shopping streets. Although C-Hotels Cocoon might not have those grandiose sea-views Andromeda boasts, it is a comfortable and beautiful hotel with modern rooms and beautiful bathrooms. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV and every morning guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet.

Hotel Rubens Ostend

Hotel Rubens is definitely one of the older hotels on this list. It is, however, known for its amazing customer service, its clean rooms with a spectacular view over the harbour, and of course their great shrimp croquettes. Although the rooms are a bit more dated than the rooms of the other hotels, Hotel Rubens is a great hotel to book if you want to spend some time at the coast with your family. Every room comes with a TV, a kettle so you can make your own coffee and tea, and every morning you can choose from a few breakfast options in the hotel breakfast room.

Hotel Louisa Ostend

I am in absolute awe of the great leaded ceiling window of Hotel Louisa. Hotel Louisa offers nice rooms close to the beach and the city centre. You won’t be far from the beating heart of the city whilst also being able to enjoy some nice walks on the beach and promenades. Hotel Louisa has big and comfy rooms and — although I am not always a big fan of their rather basic bathrooms, I can only imagine these will be renovated soon in the same way they successfully renovated the pub and the check-in area of the hotel. Nevertheless, guests are very happy with their stay at Hotel Louisa, making this one of the hotels to look out for when looking for a hotel in Ostend.

Mercure Hotel Ostend

Mercure hotel Ostend is located on the edge of the city centre, close to the beach and the shopping streets. From Mercure Hotel Ostend you can easily head off to the Casino and I would recommend staying here when you are heading down to Ostend for some gambling or to go to one of the many shows in the casino. The rooms in Mercure Hotel Ostend are light and airy and come with a desk and a little seating area. All rooms will be fitted with a flat screen TV and the family rooms even come with a bunk bed for the kids. Downstairs there is a little shop where you can pick up a few drinks and snacks if you want to stay in for the night with a little film.
