The New Forest is one of the most beautiful national parks in the United Kingdom. It’s not hard to see why The New Forest is an amazing place to walk, unwind and free yourself from the hustle and bustle of city life!
As the hotels fill up many months in advance (no – I am not kidding!) and not everyone will want to pitch up a tent on one of the many wonderful camping pitches, it is a great idea to look into renting a luxury holiday home.
There is a great variety of wonderful holiday homes in the New Forest, but Hornbeam Homestay literally tops the bill! This 4-bedroom New Forest hide-away will leave you not only breathless, but also completely de-stressed and at ease!
Hornbeam Luxury Holiday Home: what to expect?
From driving up the lane to walking through the doors, Hornbeam had me ooh-ing and aah-ing at every turn. We opened to gate and I suddenly felt embarrassed driving our dirty old Polo through along the beautiful pebble drive.
Hornbeam is a beautiful home: with wooden panelling on the upper floors, and a white render on the lower floors it has a pleasant aesthetic. I absolutely love the cosy hardwood entry to the home and could not wait to turn the key!
When entering I was impressed by the large open spaces and the beautiful kitchen which is a definite eye-catcher. To the right there was a large TV-room with a massive 4K TV and a cosy couch with fluffy throws while on the left you could find a large and light “grown up” living room with a wood burner and lush red chesterfield sofas arranged for sophisticated conversation, and enjoying the warmth of the fire during colder months.
Outside there were no less than 5 seating areas (Yes! FIVE) with a large table for al fresco dining near the kitchen, a wonderful cosy corner with comfortable garden furniture near the dining room, a fire pit with pillows outside the “grown up” living room, a nice and comfy cabana full of pillows in the back of the garden and a deck with a barbecue and some chairs next to it.
I literally could not choose where to sit and have a glass of wine first! First world problems!
Upstairs you will find four big double bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. Every ensuite has a shower and the master bedroom has a bath (big enough for two!). The master bedroom and the room next-door also have access to a large sun terrace which houses two comfortable lounge chairs and an outdoor sofa. It is literally the perfect place to bask in the late afternoon sun!
It is easy to see that the owners did not spare any expense at Hornbeam – from the amazing well equipped kitchen to the soft carpet and comfortable indoor and outdoor sofas’: this homestay is a little piece of heaven in The New Forest!
My overall experience staying at Hornbeam
I had an amazing stay at Hornbeam. Although Hornbeam lies a stone’s throw from the quaint forest village of Burley, the fact that you are surrounded by trees makes that the house itself feels very secluded and peaceful. It is very easy to walk to the bustling honeypot village but you won’t notice anything of the many tourists visiting Burley when staying at Hornbeam.
As mentioned before: the house just breathes luxury and quality. We were on a little family trip when we stayed at Hornbeam, and even though there were 8 of us, the house never ever felt too small. I think this was due to the fact that the garden is quite large and that there is ample room to hide away – whether it is in the little cabana or even on the sun terrace.
I really enjoyed curling up with the family in the evenings. The TV room is amazing and if I ever buy forever home – this will be the TV room to aspire to! Not only is the TV massive and 4K, the sofa is incredibly comfortable! Especially when cosying up to some Netflix with one of the comfy fluffy throws it can be hard not to fall asleep!
We stayed for two nights over the weekend and I slept great! It can be a bit hard falling asleep when you live in a big city, and although you get used to the light and the noise, it can still hinder your sleep. As Hornbeam lies in the middle of The New Forest and since you are very much surrounded by people looking for a little corner of peace and quiet, you will not hear anything at night.
Except maybe for the owl who lives in the little wood next to the house (or so I suspect) or one of the foxes in the neighbourhood.
Hornbeam holiday rental in The New Forest: conclusion
Wow! I think I found my absolute favourite place to stay in The New Forest! Hornbeam is like a little slice of heaven. It is very private and secluded but yet still incredibly close to pubs and the little village centre of Burley.
I spent 2 wonderful nights at Hornbeam and cannot wait to go back! Bravo!
